Holiday 2022 Destinations Near Midland - Rogers Ford Blog

The holidays in Midland and the Permian Basin are a magical time of year. In the lead up to Christmas, there are many festive events – all merry and bright – taking place in our region. Make the holiday memorable by visiting your favorite holiday event in a new Ford or used car from Rogers Ford! Here are a few destinations to put at the top of your list as you gather with family and friends this year.

Green Acres Minigolf is poised to host its first annual Christmas on the Green on December 18th. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. with a visit from Santa Claus and the Grinch. Photographs with Santa are available between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The fun also includes campfires, S’mores, hot cocoa, face painting, a bounce house, and live music. The event runs to 9 p.m. with minigolf, retro arcade, jumpers, slides, and more.

Get ready for the triumphant return to the stage of Midland Festival Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker which returns to the stage December 18th and 19th. The ballet is full of epic battles, lands made of sweets, living toys and even fairies, but the real magic happens when the live audience joins the dancers, musicians, volunteers, and crew to share in the experience. The ballet company will be accompanied by the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale for both performances at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in its return production.

Lightwire Theater’s A Very Electric Christmas is guaranteed to brighten the holidays of its all-ages audience on December 20th. Those in attendance will be treated to a magical and enthralling story of family, friendship, and hope set to enduring holiday hits, including the music of Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey, and Tchaikovsky. This wonderful tale tells the story of a young bird named Max who must find his way home after getting lost at the North Pole. Along his journey, he encounters friendly caroling worms, dancing poinsettias, Nutcracker soldiers, mischievous mice, and an evil Rat King.

During the Christmas season, the annual Comanche Trail Park Festival of Lights boasts more than 1 million lights displayed in the park. More than 10,000 people attend the event every year. The Festival of Lights features various themes and silhouettes highlighted by a stunning display of large poinsettias on the dam of Comanche Trail Lake. It is well worth the short drive to Big Spring.
